GT59 for SFT + DFT
GT59 is a single flank tester with the features to run double flank test (DFT) for paralleled shaft applications.

Demand for objective analysis requires a new type of SFT tester GEI Systems now has SFT testers with SmartSFT™ technology with TE measuring capability.

This requirement widely used in 90° shaft angle application has been extended to the applications for paralleled shafts gearsets.

The new model of SFT GT59 introduced by GEI Systems has been designed to implement the best features of SFT process in quality control departments. That feature allows to use it in Double Flank Test (DFT) and compare results with SFT process.

Here’s the most common parameters to consider for a double flank test.

• The amount of center distance change from one tooth to the next one is the Tooth-to-Tooth variation.

• The values from an inspection are typically recorded and stored in the file. From the file, the maximum Tooth-to-Tooth error can be measured, as can the Total Composite error. These values must be less than the specified tolerances.

• RUN OUT ERROR is an indication of pure radial or concentric problems between centers, or the bore of the part, and the Pitch Diameter of the teeth for external gears. Run out can be induced by poor blank quality, machine tooling problems or inspection arbor problems

• PITCH VARIATION is defined as the amount a particular tooth is out of position relative to the tooth in front of it. Each tooth has a pitch variation for each side. The pitch variation tolerance is the maximum value allowable for any tooth on a given gear.

• PITCH RANGE is the amount a particular tooth is out of position relative to any other tooth on the gear. The pitch variation error is a result of index errors, pitch range errors, radial run out and any tooth-to-tooth size variations. The pitch range tolerance is the maximum allowable for either side of the gear teeth.
